A life dedicated to truth, reform, and literature - Prof. Parmanand “Adhir,” former Cabinet Minister of Haryana (Education, Forest, PWD), was a poet and author of over 18 books, honored with the Varisht Sahitya Samman.

Political Activity

1966–1970

Joined Socialist Party; became District General Secretary; led Chandigarh movement; jailed in Hisar for political activism.

Participated in Indian Lok Dal formation; arrested during farmer movements; joined Janata Party; delegate in party formation conference.

Active in Lok Dal; focused on organizational work; engaged in Chaudhary Devi Lal’s Justice Movement, training cadres in 46 constituencies.

Elected MLA from Jind; served as Cabinet Minister in key departments; organized backward classes; opposed corruption and caste discrimination.

Contested parliamentary election; became Janata Dal Haryana General Secretary; joined Congress; strengthened backward classes’ political organization.

Resigned from backward classes commission; joined Indira Congress; led major Jind rally; became physically disabled but continued political-social work.
